Blog #6 (471-563)

After Alice took Bella to the Volturi family to find Edward, they returned to Forks, WA. There, Edward proposed to Bella which sort of freaked Bella out. He told her, "Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars—points of light and reason… And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. I couldn’t see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for anything" (514). This quote really shows how much Edward loves and needs Bella. It also gives insight into what Edward is thinking instead of only Bella.
Since Bella desperately wants to become a vampire, the Cullen family decides to take a vote. The majority of the vote was for her being a vampire. Edward still wasn't pleased, so he compromised. He promised Bella that after she graduates then she can become a vampire.

Blog #5 (347-470)

In this part of New Moon Alice has come back to Forks, Washington to visit Bella. She stays with her for a couple of days because she's extremely worried about Edward. "I don’t think he ever planned to outlive you by long" (418). Alice says this to Bella because Edward wants Bella to stay human forever. He says that he'll stay with her for as long as she lives even though she'll get old and he'll stay young. Bella starts to worry too because Edward thinks that she killed herself when she was cliff diving. "We may already be too late. I saw him going to the Volturi… and asking to die" (419). I can relate to this because it can be very confusing when people play "telephone". Like how when Alice saw into the future when Bella jumped, she told Edward what she saw. People I know hear things from other people and exaggerate when they tell everybody else so things can get really out of hand.

Blog #4 (283-376)

In New Moon, Bella starts to hang out with Jacob and his werewolf friends. Bella met Sam Uley's girlfriend, Emily, who has a huge scar on her face from Sam probably attacking her. Also, Bella does more dangerous things in order to hear Edward's voice. She's still not over Edward at all, and she remembers before he left when he was at her house watching Romeo and Juliet. "Romeo wouldn’t change his mind. That’s why people still remembered his name, always twined with hers: Romeo and Juliet. That’s why it was a good story. 'Juliet gets dumped and ends up with Paris' would have never been a hit" (371). This quote makes me think that Bella just is completely lost without Edwarde even though I feel really bad for Jacob because he really likes her. Bella won't even give him a chance because she's convinced that she's so in love with Edward.

Blog #3 (189-282)

In this part of New Moon by Stephenie Meyer, Bella comes across Laurent in the meadow where Edward once took her. Bella thinks that Laurent his clan aren't targeting her anymore but he informs her that Victoria, another one of his clan, is after her. He says that since Edward killed James (in Twilight) that it would only be fair to kill Bella as a mate for a mate type of thing. Since Laurent is so "thirsty" he decides that maybe he should just take care of Bella for himself. Fortunately, a pack of wolves chase Laurent out and save Bella. "Granted, the wolf was monstrous in size, but it was just an animal. What reason would a vampire have for fearing an animal?"(243). This is when I had the idea that Jacob, Sam Uley, and his other new found friends were actually vampires. In Twilight, Jacob told Bella of an ancient folk tale that the Cullens were vampires and the Blacks descended from wolves, and were called "protectors". The werewolves are supposed to protect humans from their enemies, vampires. Since the whole thing about the Cullens turned out to be true, I thought that the Blacks were definitely going to turn out to be vampires.

New Moon #2 (95-189)

In this part of the book, Bella has been spending alot of time with Jacob doing somewhat dangerous things. She realises that whenever she does dangerous things, she can hear Edward's voice in her head telling her to be careful. This of course makes Bella wanting more to do dangerous things since it's the only way that she can disregard his promise: "It will be as if I never existed". He says this to her because he wants her to keep her soul and be a happy normal human. He thinks that if he's in her life than she will miss out on things that he doens't want her to. She of course disagrees with him because she's convinced that she can't ever live with out him. It seems as if when people break up with people they say they want them to just forget about them and move on with their life. That's impossible to do though, whether you were completely in love and can't imagine living your life without them or not. I think it's especially hard for Bella because of the impact he had on her because of the shock that he's a vampire and because they fell in love.

New Moon #1 (1-94)

In the beginning of New Moon by Stephanie Meyer, the Cullens leave Forks and Bella becomes closer to Jacob Black. A quote that I really found interesting in this section was after the Cullens left and Bella finally thought that she could live without Edward. She thinks, "Time passes. Even when it seems impossible. Even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse of blood behind a bruise. It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me" (93). Bella really takes Edward leaving very hard even though she has Charlie, her father, and her new friend Jacob. Jacob has a huge crush on Bella and she doesn't even care. All Bella does is mope around and miss Edward. The idea of time is much more sensitive to her than it might be to other people, since Edward is immortal. She's so afraid of aging and becoming older than him and she desperately wants to become a vampire so she can be with him forever.

New Moon Reflection

For fourth quarter, I decided to read New Moon by Stephanie Meyer. I’ve never read Twilight, I just saw the movie and I thought it was really better than I expected it was going to be. Everyone says that the books are so much better, and that the movies don’t even compare, so I decided that I would just start with the second one. Also, my mom and I were thinking that we would read it together, so we both got copies. I got the book on Monday, and I'm already half way through the book even though I thought it was going to take me forever since it's so thick. It's actually a surprisingly fast read and I'm really enjoying it, and I'm really excited to read and Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.
